Can two instruments become one organism?

Modular Piano is a performance and artistic research project exploring how an acoustic piano and a modular synthesizer can perform as one musical organism through real-time interaction.

Project

Rather than treating the piano and modular synthesizer as separate instruments, Modular Piano explores how they can listen, respond, and exchange musical roles. Using pitch tracking, gesture analysis, and control voltage, the piano influences an independent electronic voice that reacts in real time. Instead of processing the piano’s sound, the system listens before responding.
